Ghoul Entry 7.

What a long weekend. Kid, Ghastly, Mrs 13 and I flew out of NC at 7:15 in the morning, with no sleep at all from the night before to make it in LA by noon so we could go to the NAMM show. We made it there with no problem, and we pretty much went straight from the airport to NAMM. This place was crazy as usual with everybody from every band

there. We went and met all of the companies that supply our equipment like ESP, Dean Markley and Coffin Case and said hello, and discussed plans for the new year. We also ran into some old friends and made some new ones. The highlight of NAMM for me was meeting Twisted Sister (minus Dee) and getting a photo with them. Later that night Pig and I went back to his place to finish some demos on some material that we were working on. We didn’t finish until about 3am and we had to be up at 9am to be at the video shoot by 10am. So needless to say we were burnt out and 9am was there in no time. Luckily the video shoot was not stressful at all and we had a good time and our second wind kicked in early. We finished up the video by 9pm and then we headed out for dinner and then it was back to Pig’s to finish up the songs we were working on. I got back from his place at about 2:30 am and Ghastly, Kid and Mrs 13 were out in front of the hotel drinking. Although I should have went to bed, I joined them in drinking which kept us up until 6am. We had to be up at 10 to be at the airport for our flight at noon. We got home at 10pm our time and the wife and I came home and went to bed. It’s Tuesday afternoon and I’m still exahusted from the weekend’s adventure, I can’t wait for you guys to see the video this should be pretty cool. Until next time….13

Ghoul Entry 6.

I slammed a bunch of drinks, but i wanted to write this yesterday…

It’s 3:31 am here, early Saturday morning in the bible belt of North Carolina. I’m still in shock from the “Dimebag” story this week. I honestly did not believe it at first. I didn’t know him personally, but to say I wasn’t touched by his band and style would be lying. This is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever heard of. It’s a sad week for us all in the music world, and all I can ask is why???? I raise a toast in the memory of the fallen….Wednesday 13

Ghoul Entry 5.

God Damn!!! What a great weekend of seeing fucked up funny things. I know it’s not right to laugh at other people, but as Homer Simpson said “It’s funny, because we don’t know them.” With that in mind, let me tell you about it.

On Saturday, the wife and I went out to pick up some lunch and I see some asshole down the street burning a big fucking tree that he had cut down in his yard. This guy is standing there holding a beer watching this tree burn. There are other trees around, and lots of woods, dry leaves all over the ground, all it would take is one gust of wind and we would have a big fucking mess in our neighborhood. So we called the police to go tell this fucktard to put it out. So the police go tell the guy that he has to put the fire out. When we drive back by 30 mins later, he and his wife are putting this fire out with little buckets of water. As we drove by, we caught the lady’s attention as she was carrying this bucket of water. She wasn’t watching what was in front of her and she fell face first and spilled the water all over her … we couldn’t help but laugh.

We went out with our friends later that day and we stopped at this gas station to get a drink. The lady behind the counter was just acting strange and staring into space. She looked like somebody slapped the fuck out of her and she was still dizzy from it. However, she was able to give me the correct change back out of my $20, so maybe she was all right.

Later that night we were hanging out at this bar and witness yet another great moment. Some drunk lady was dancing to the music that they were playing, and she kicked her leg up and pissed her pants! At first we thought, NO, but yes she did, she pissed her pants. The sad thing is, we almost pissed our pants laughing at her for pissing her pants!

Then of course this morning I watch the clip of Ahslee Simpson fucking up on SNL. I love how she tried to cover it up by doing this bizarre dance that can only be described as “retarded”.

In other news, I went to the thrift store today and got a cool new jacket to alter and transform into my own. The next two days I’ve got a lot of sewing and work to do on my clothes. I’ve just got a ton of shit to do before I leave for the tour next week. Oh well, it’s all worth it. Until next time…

Ghoul Entry 4.

What a long week it’s been, but fun. Pig flew out from LA and we rehearsed all week. We had a blast playing and just hanging out, it’s scary how much we have in common. The quote that we used all week was “This ain’t a fucking costume, this is a way of life,” from “Return of the Living Dead”. It was probably said about 300 times a day, and it just got better every time we said it.

I got a head cold the day after Pig left, so I stayed in bed all day to recuperate. I was better by the weekend, so I went out DVD shopping. I got “The Hills Have Eyes” deluxe edition, “Dawn Of The Dead”, “Return of the Living Dead PT 2″, and “Hard Rock Zombies”. I had all of these on video, but I had to have them on dvd. I also finally got the “Return of the Living Dead” and The “Trick or Treat” soundtracks on CD in the mail last week, these records are fucking great…this Halloween folks, remember Sammi Curr!!!

It’s early morning now and I’m handling e-mails and shit from the UK. Since it is 5 hours ahead of me, I have to do this early. We are getting all of our tour things finalized now, and getting prepared for the tour. We will have a few more rehearsals and then it’s off we go. I can’t wait to get back over and tour, the fans are so fucking cool and dedicated there, it’s going to be a great time. Well, I’m out for now…until next time.

Ghoul Entry 3.

So the month of Halloween is off to a good start. I’ve been enjoying my horror film schedule so far, I’ve even thrown in a few that weren’t on the list. I really love this time of year, even though I’ve got a lot on my plate right now.

Me and the lady have been trying to organize all the flights, equipment and bullshit for the upcoming tour and it’s getting a bit annoying, it seems everyday another dollar is thrown in on top, that we don’t have in the budget.

The other side of the music business that the fans don’t see is really shitty sometimes. It’s full of everyday surprises and bullshit around every corner. Even the stories behind some of the artists can make you sometimes love them more than you did or make you lose all respect. Unfortunately, I’ve been let down by a few people (one person in particular?) over the years and my old memories are shattered. I feel like I’m the government covering up alien existence sometimes with the dirt I know about some people that I choose not to speak about. My lips are sealed - but I’m not blinded by the business.

Anyway, on the bright side, Pig will be flying in next week to begin rehearsals - so that should be fun. Rehearse all day and watch horror movies all night. Until next time….

Ghoul Entry 1.

I have been working my ass off in the studio, and I have finally completed my first solo record. I started working on this bastard in July and finally it is done. Some of these songs go back to the beginning of 2003 when I first wrote them and some are new ones I wrote just prior to entering the studio. So to me, it’s a long time in the making. I didn’t really make an effort to write any particular kind of song or go for any certain style. I don’t listen to anything current so nothing influenced me on that aspect. I just wrote what I wrote, I like it, and that’s what I’m making music for anyway…myself. Does it sound like Murderdolls? Does it sound like FDQ? I don’t know what to say…yes it does, and then again no it doesn’t. I didn’t try to distance myself from the previous stuff, so I wouldn’t say it’s a departure. There are something’s that sound different from what I’ve done in the past, and then there are songs that are very similar. Some people are wondering why am doing a solo record and why not a Murderdolls album. The answer to that is this: Murderdolls are on a hiatus. For how long? I don’t know. I’m not going to sit around and wait for that call. I’ve been making music for years and staying active, and I will continue to do so whether it’s with Murderdolls, or own my own. Juggling the band business alongside being the family guy here at home, it’s been a busy fucking summer for me.

There is always a wrench thrown in the gear every time things seem to be going smooth. Most recently, it was the departure of Ikky from the group. Ikky was a former FDQ member and a good friend of mine, we had some great times together. However the years that I spent doing Murderdolls, Ikky went on with his life, he changed a bit over the years. Once he and I started playing together again, I think he realized this was not what he wants to do anymore. So we have decided to go our separate ways. It’s sad, but life goes on and I wish him the best.
The future is paved with uncertain things, and the only thing that is certain is our death. Moving forward is so exciting don’t you think?
